Apple & Honey Scones

Apple & Honey Scones

In a large bowl combine the following 6 ingredients
2-1/2 cups organic unbleached white flour w/ wheat germ
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

Cut in butter until the mix is crumbly
1/3 cup butter

Combine the following
2 med apples or one large apple peeled and chopped
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup honey

Add to crumbly mixture just until moist
On a floured surface, knead gently 5-6 times.
Pat dough into a 9-1n. circle about 1/2 in. thick

Combine the following
2 tsp. wheat germ or finely ground nuts
2 tsp. course sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Sprinkle over dough.
Cut into 8 wedges
On a greased or parchment lined baking sheet, bake at 400° for 15-18 minutes.

I'm thinking a little drizzle of something caramely would make a nice addition to this recipe.
